PRINT MEDIA

How do you print without a studio, without the usual printing tools and presses? An answer to this question, one brought on this year by Covid lockdowns and distancing measures, is—you look to the world around you, for the world itself is a maker of prints. Students used their bodies, found materials, and turned their kitchen tables and home offices into image-making and printing studios. Previously learned print studio techniques were adapted, new methods were tried. These galleries show intro level to senior level students playing with print and cross-disciplinary methods: print and drawing (rubbings, object printing, stencils, stamping), photo-print processes like cyanotype and scanography, stop motion animation, e-books and desktop printed artist books. The work produced by these students this year is experimental, personal and courageous.
